The Consulate General of the United States of America in Jeddah celebrated the 249th anniversary of the independence of the United States with its annual ceremony held under the theme “Celebrating the 80th anniversary of the meeting of President Roosevelt and King Abdulaziz: to shape the future of bilateral relations”. The celebration of the long and fruitful partnership between the United States and the Kingdom highlighted the close cooperation in the fields of business and innovation and the promotion of future cooperation.

It also received the Chargé d’Affaires of the American Mission to Saudi Arabia, Alison Delworth, the Acting Consul General, Ali Lilich, the Governor of Jeddah, His Highness Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi, as a guest of honor, along with the Director General of the branch of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Makkah region, Farid Al-Shehri, and a number of members of the diplomatic corps and many distinguished guests from various regions of the Kingdom.

“The historic meeting between President Roosevelt and King Abdul Aziz in 1945 has formed the foundations of a deep and lasting friendship, which contributes to strengthening the partnership between the United States and Saudi Arabia to this day,” said Acting U.S. Mission Chargé d’Alison Delworth said during the ceremony.

The event was marked by an exclusive American business exhibition, which reviewed the latest contributions of American companies to the economic development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with a special focus on the healthcare and infrastructure sectors, in line with Saudi Arabia’s transformative vision 2030.
