With new names topping Wrapped lists, 2024 was truly a year for the fans. Here are the key listening trends that defined Saudi Arabia’s year.
Ayed Crowned Spotify’s 2024 Arab Artist in Saudi
Ayed, the voice of the youth, has been named Spotify Wrapped 2024 Arab Artist in Saudi for the first time. He is followed by Abdul Majeed Abdullah in second place and Rashed Al-Majed in third. Assala and Majid Almohandis round out the top five, placing fourth and fifth, respectively.
Ayed’s remarkable year is highlighted further as two of his tracks, “Lammah” and “Rdy” are among Spotify Wrapped’s 2024 most-streamed Arabic songs in Saudi Arabia. His music also made waves across regional Spotify Charts, from Egypt to Kuwait.
Sad Romance Defines 2024’s Soundtrack
This year, sad romantic songs struck a chord with listeners, leaving an indelible mark. Leading the way as the most-streamed Arabic song of 2024 is Bee Remix’s smash hit, “Aybaah (Remix)”. Saif Amer comes in second with the original heart-wrenching track, “Aybaah” which inspired the Bee Remix.
The third and fourth spots are claimed by Ayed with his soulful hits Lammah and Rdy”. Rounding out the top five is the Egyptian heartbreak anthem, Heygeeli Mawgo by Tamer Ashour, resonating deeply with fans across the region.
Saudis Stay on Global Trends
Saudi listeners are tuned into the global music scene. For Spotify Wrapped 2024, Taylor Swift claims the top spot as the most-streamed artist in Saudi Arabia, followed by The Weeknd and Billie Eilish. Travis Scott takes the fourth place, with Drake rounding out the top five.
Interestingly, the preferences of Saudi listeners closely mirror the global trends. Globally, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd also land the first and second positions, respectively. Billie Eilish and Drake are fourth and fifth worldwide. Notably, Bad Bunny claims the third spot globally, underlining his potent international appeal.
From Phonk to Khaleej
Saudi listeners embrace a dynamic mix of music, as reflected in the top five most popular Spotify editorial playlists for Saudis. From the edgy global beats of “Phonk” and the hottest 50 songs on “Today’s Top Hits” to the top Arabic hits on “التوب (Al-Top), local pride shines through with “Hits خليجي” (Khaleeji Hits) and طرب خليجي” (Tarab Khaleeji), which celebrate the rich heritage and evolving sounds of Khaleeji music. This blend reflects a culture that is both inspired by global trends and regional roots.
