InterContinental The Red Sea Resort, IHG and Red Sea Global join Saudi Arabia’s first female skydiver, Razan Al-Ajmi, to unveil a landmark film for Saudi National Day, celebrating Saudi ambition, pioneering spirit and a new era of discovery in the Kingdom.
The Red Sea – InterContinental The Red Sea Resort, in partnership with IHG Hotels & Resorts, Red Sea Global and Saudi Arabia’s first female skydiver, Razan Al-Ajmi, has unveiled a landmark campaign commemorating Saudi National Day and capturing the first-ever skydive over The Red Sea.
As the resort marks its first Saudi National Day, the occasion called for a celebration as distinctive as the destination itself. The result is a historic skydive above Shura Island, captured over the pristine waters surrounding InterContinental The Red Sea Resort, with Al-Ajmi taking to the skies carrying Saudi Arabia’s flag alongside the resort flag. Bringing together her pioneering spirit, the extraordinary landscape of The Red Sea and a shared sense of national pride, the film celebrates the significance of the occasion and the remarkable possibilities of a destination taking shape in the Kingdom.
At its heart, the story is also a celebration of Saudi talent and a generation pursuing its passions, challenging expectations and creating new possibilities. As the Kingdom’s first female skydiver and now the first female to skydive over The Red Sea, Al-Ajmi embodies that spirit of courage and determination. Her achievement gives the film a powerful human dimension, transforming the historic jump into a celebration not only of an extraordinary destination, but of the people helping shape the Kingdom’s future.
Ahead of the jump, Razan immersed herself in the destination, experiencing the landscape, hospitality and culture that would later unfold beneath her from the sky. Framed by turquoise lagoons, pristine beaches and thriving marine ecosystems, InterContinental The Red Sea Resort offers a setting where exploration and restoration come together, with experiences spanning time on the water, destination-led dining and holistic wellness at SPA InterContinental. Her journey across Shura Island included kayaking through calm waters, discovering the surrounding marine environment and moments of restoration at the spa. She also explored the resort’s culinary offering, from Levantine-Moroccan flavours at Darein to specialty coffee and Arabic sweets at Murrma, giving her a sense of the destination before taking to the skies.
These moments form part of the campaign film, establishing a personal connection between Razan and the destination before she takes to the skies. As she descends above The Red Sea carrying the Saudi flag, the landscape becomes more than a backdrop to the achievement: it becomes an expression of the Kingdom she represents.
Francesco Pantalone, General Manager of InterContinental The Red Sea Resort, said: “Saudi National Day is an opportunity to celebrate the ambition, people and extraordinary places shaping the Kingdom today. Razan embodies that pioneering spirit, and we are incredibly proud to have partnered with her, IHG and Red Sea Global to capture this historic first above The Red Sea. Unveiling the film for National Day allows us to celebrate both her achievement and a destination that represents an exciting new chapter for Saudi Arabia.”
As Saudi Arabia’s first female skydiver, Razan has established herself as a pioneering figure in adventure sport, building a career defined by courage, determination and a willingness to challenge expectations. Becoming the first female to skydive over The Red Sea adds another milestone to her journey and creates a powerful visual expression of Saudi ambition.
Razan Al-Ajmi said: “Taking part in the first skydive over The Red Sea is a moment I will always carry with me. Seeing this extraordinary part of Saudi Arabia from the sky, with the Saudi flag in my hands, made the experience incredibly meaningful. I am proud that the film is being shared in celebration of Saudi National Day and hope it reflects the ambition and possibilities that exist for Saudi women and for the next generation across the Kingdom.”
The campaign is unveiled during a milestone year for InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, which celebrates its 80th anniversary in 2026. For eight decades, the brand has connected travellers with remarkable destinations through experiences rooted in discovery, culture and a strong sense of place. InterContinental The Red Sea Resort continues that legacy on Shura Island, introducing travellers to a new expression of Saudi hospitality and The Red Sea.
Through Razan’s historic jump, the partnership captures a defining image of contemporary Saudi Arabia: ambitious, pioneering and looking towards the future. Released to commemorate Saudi National Day, the film celebrates a Kingdom continuing to push boundaries while inviting the world to discover The Red Sea from an entirely new perspective.
