RIYADHA joint team consisting of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the ministry’s Riyadh field office and Arriyadh Development Co. conducted visits to businesses operating at public fresh produce marketplace in the Saudi capital.

The ministry’s team was led by the General Manager of Agricultural Associations and Marketing, Sulaiman Al-Jutaili; Riyadh Field Office Director Eng. Fahd Al-Hamzi; and the Vice President of Operation of Arriyadh Development Co., Eng. Walid Al-Kharji.

The visit to major wholesalers and traders of the fresh produce market came as part of a memorandum of understanding signed between the ministry and Arriyadh Development Co. to improve and advance wholesale and fresh produce markets, and engaging with major wholesalers and traders with the intent of generating insights, to keep up with Riyadh’s ambitious socioeconomic growth.

The visits, said Al-Jutaili, underline the importance of collaboration between the two sides to underpin the ministry’s oversight and regulatory role across relevant public good markets. In the process, the partnership seeks to ensure that agricultural bylaws, health, safety, and product quality control standards as well as sustaining supply levels are being followed.

Al-Kharji emphasized the company’s commitment to public-private partnerships to transform public good services and offerings, especially when it comes to safeguarding the country’s food security agenda, new investment opportunities, and expansion of public fresh produce markets.

Arriyadh Development Co. is a publicly listed company that primarily invests in real estate development. Among its many lines of businesses, the company builds and operates, and manages public good services projects in collaboration with the government. The company has built, and currently operates four service projects that employ over 150 talents, many of which are Saudis, serving over 2,000 tenants and more than 20 million people.
