Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s latest opening blends contemporary luxury with historic charm, providing exceptional experiences in the heart of Zurich.

Hong Kong- – Mandarin Oriental is delighted to introduce the group’s third property in Switzerland as it brings its legendary hospitality to the country’s largest city, Zurich. Located on the famous Paradeplatz, Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich is an iconic landmark hotel sitting just steps away from the prestigious Bahnhofstrasse and its high-end fashion houses, the historic old town and charming promenade leading to Lake Zurich.

The story of Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich started back on Christmas Eve, 1838, when a young baker from Vorarlberg in Austria called Johannes Baur founded the city’s first grand hotel, the Hotel Baur. Exactly 185 years later, again in the days just before Christmas, this icon is reborn as it opens its doors to international travellers and the local community following an extensive renovation.

To celebrate the spirit of Christmas and pay homage to the hotel’s original 1838 opening date, Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich has partnered with legendary luxury jeweller Harry Winston to create stunning Christmas trees. The beautifully decorated trees sparkle this festive season in Harry Winston’s signature blue and gold as they adorn the hotel’s lobby, restaurants and signature suites.

Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich has been reimagined by the highly respected Paris-based interior designer Tristan Auer who has seamlessly combined historical details with contemporary style, while ensuring that the hotel maximises its extraordinary views over the city’s landmarks. Guest rooms and suites are designed for both aesthetics and functionality, creating intimate sanctuaries of relaxation and comfort inspired by the colours of the city and Zurich’s modern art scene. Many of the 44 rooms and 36 suites boast spacious terraces and private rooftops, along with beautifully handcrafted living spaces.

With four distinct restaurant and bar concepts to choose from, Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich invites guests on a culinary journey through a variety of international flavours overseen by Executive Chef Benjamin Halat. At the heart of the hotel lies the glamorous Savoy Brasserie & Bar that offers French-inspired all-day dining, Swiss classics and signature cocktails. Intimate and sophisticated, ORSINI is a fine-dining Italian restaurant conceived by Consultant Chef Antonio Guida, from the two Michelin-starred Seta restaurant at Mandarin Oriental, Milan. After a long day of shopping or sightseeing, guests can also unwind in the refined Mandarin Lounge or, from next spring, enjoy panoramic views from the new 1838 rooftop bar.

With its prime city centre location and more than 700 sqm of meeting and events space, Mandarin Oriental Savoy is also the perfect destination for special occasions such as weddings, parties, celebrations and corporate functions. Ten fully equipped venues include a protected historic guild hall and a beautifully preserved grand ballroom.

Since 1838 many famous names have stayed at the hotel. In 1845 alone, illustrious pianist and composer Franz Liszt lived in the Hotel Baur during the Beethoven Festival, while 19th century British literary giant Charles Dickens – the author, famously, of works including the short story “A Christmas Carol” – also stayed at the hotel with his family.

To celebrate the opening, Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich is offering an enticing Be the First to Stay package, affording guests exclusive benefits including daily breakfast, dining credit, and more.
