The Air Connectivity Program, announced the cooperation with the Medina Development Authority and Taibah Airports Operating Company, with “Wizz Air” airlines on direct flights between London Gatwick and Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport.

The program indicated that the flights will start from August 2, at the rate of seven flights per week, through the fleet of the A321 XLR aircraft with a capacity of 239 seats, which contributes to saving 173,992 seats per year at low cost between the two directions.

The CEO of the Air Connection Program, Majid Khan, stressed that these new routes come within the strategic partnership with the Medina Development Authority and Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Airport to promote tourism from the United Kingdom to Saudi Arabia to explore the historical heritage of the Medina region and its distinctive geographical location, which makes it easier for tourists to reach smoothly to various cities in the Kingdom.

For his part, the CEO of Taibah Airport Operation Company, Eng. Sufyan Abdulsalam Seba, welcomed the inauguration of direct flights for “Wizz Air” between Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport and London Gatwick Airport, stressing the importance of this step in strengthening the air connectivity network and providing a distinctive travel experience.

He stated that this inauguration comes within the strategic plans of Taiba Company to operate airports to expand the airport’s network and launch new European destinations to enhance its position as a regional travel center and a leading travel destination, within the framework of contributing to achieving the targets of the National Aviation Strategy. This reflects the growing importance of Medina in the global tourism landscape, and was classified as the best tourist city in the Kingdom and among the list of the top 100 tourist destinations in the world for 2024, which enhances its position as a major destination for travelers from all over the world.

It is noteworthy that the air connectivity program aims to increase tourism growth in the Kingdom, by enhancing air connectivity between the Kingdom and the countries of the world, through the development of current and potential air routes, and linking the Kingdom to new global destinations. The Air Interconnection Program, as the executive potential of the national tourism strategy, and the national aviation strategy, works to enhance cooperation and build partnerships between key actors in the public and private sectors in the tourism and aviation systems, to enhance the Kingdom’s position as a leading global tourist destination in the field of tourism connectivity.
