Fairmont Riyadh marked International Women’s Day with a meaningful evening dedicated to women’s leadership, community, culture, and social impact. Held in the Mecca Meeting Room on March 8, the gathering brought together inspiring women leaders, changemakers, and members of the community for an open conversation about the evolving role of women in Saudi Arabia.
In collaboration with Alnahda Society, Art of Heritage, and Saut: The Voice of Down Syndrome Society, the event highlighted the achievements and experiences of women working across entrepreneurship, cultural preservation, advocacy, and community development. The panel also reflected the importance of creating spaces where meaningful conversations about leadership and inclusion can take place.
Fairmont Riyadh Highlights Women’s Leadership in Saudi Arabia
The evening opened with remarks from Dr. Miznah Alomair, CEO of Alnahda Society, who welcomed guests and introduced the speakers. Her opening set the tone for a discussion focused on leadership, entrepreneurship, community support, and initiatives that create opportunities for women.
The panel brought together three distinctive voices, each offering a different perspective shaped by professional experience and community work.
Hala Al Rasheed, Senior Advocacy Specialist at Alnahda Society, spoke about the changing role of women in Saudi Arabia and the importance of creating strong support networks. Her perspective reflected Alnahda Society’s long-standing work to empower women socially and economically. The organisation has been working in this area for decades, supporting initiatives designed to strengthen women’s participation and development.
Fairmont Riyadh Panel Celebrates Culture and Community
The conversation also explored the connection between women’s leadership and Saudi Arabia’s cultural identity.
HRH Princess Nourah Alfaisal, CEO of Art of Heritage, highlighted how women contribute to preserving cultural heritage through creativity, craftsmanship, and storytelling. Through Art of Heritage, Saudi women play an important role in preserving traditional garments and textiles while helping historic techniques reach new generations.
Her contribution demonstrated that leadership extends beyond corporate roles. It can also be reflected in the preservation of traditions, the protection of cultural identity, and the creation of opportunities for future generations.
The panel also featured Zaina Zaidan, CEO of Saut: The Voice of Down Syndrome Society, who shared her experience of leading meaningful change within the community.
Through her advocacy for individuals with Down Syndrome and their families in Saudi Arabia, Zaina highlighted the importance of education, awareness, compassion, and inclusion. Her story added another dimension to the discussion, showing how leadership can create positive change at a community level.
Women’s Leadership Takes Centre Stage at Fairmont Riyadh
Throughout the evening, the discussion moved naturally between personal experiences, professional challenges, community initiatives, and the importance of supporting one another.
Rather than focusing solely on individual achievements, the panel explored how collaboration and strong networks can help create lasting opportunities. The stories shared by the speakers offered different examples of how women are contributing to Saudi society through business, culture, advocacy, and social initiatives.
The event concluded with remarks from Lynn Mhanna, Director of Sales & Marketing at Fairmont Riyadh, who thanked the speakers and attendees for sharing their experiences and perspectives.
Mhanna emphasised the responsibility of the hospitality industry to create spaces where conversations around leadership, empowerment, and inclusion can take place. Her remarks reflected the broader purpose of the evening: celebrating women’s contributions while encouraging continued dialogue and connection.
Fairmont Riyadh Creates a Space for Meaningful Conversations
At its heart, Fairmont Riyadh continues to provide a setting where people can come together for meaningful experiences, conversations, and community engagement.
The International Women’s Day panel demonstrated how hospitality spaces can extend beyond accommodation and dining to become platforms for dialogue and shared experiences. By bringing together leaders from different fields, the evening created an opportunity to recognise achievements while discussing the work still needed to build more inclusive communities.
The event also aligns with a broader interest in women’s leadership across Riyadh. Fairmont Riyadh has previously highlighted the contributions of women within its own leadership team, reflecting the growing presence and influence of female professionals across the hospitality sector.
