Dubai, United Arab Emirates-: Families and kids have thousands of ways to enjoy thrilling experiences this weekend across the city as part of the biggest and best edition of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS). Now in its 27th year, the annual summer line-up organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) features incredible family-friendly and value-driven things to do, see, experience and explore. All weekend long, there are endless ways for families to keep entertained and try new and exciting experiences at brilliant price points.

FAMILY FUN AND OFFERS

Families searching for memorable things to do can relish the maximum value deals that are part of the amazing DSS Kids Go Free offer across family staycations, extended summer getaways, thrilling attractions, and iconic entertainment destinations. Running until 1 September, everyone in the city can now enjoy unforgettable getaways and hospitality experiences for less. Hundreds of hotels across the emirate are welcoming young guests to stay completely free of charge, in addition to complimentary meal plans when kids dine on the same package as adult guests. Hotels welcoming little ones for free include Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach, The Palace Downtown Dubai, Lapita Hotel, Address Fountain Views, and many more. Dubai’s top attractions and entertainment destinations are all throwing open their doors and welcoming kids completely free of charge all summer, including Madame Tussauds, The View at The Palm, AYA Universe Crocodile Park, La Perle by Dragone, and several other iconic attractions.

Back for another thrill-filled year is the free-to-enter Modesh World, the sprawling edutainment attraction at Dubai World Trade Centre Halls 3 – 8 which returns with special additions to celebrate Modesh’s 25th anniversary. Bringing the biggest and most exciting season ever to families all summer long, visitors can find non-stop entertainment, new attractions and a jam-packed calendar of thrilling live shows, exhilarating rides, informative workshops, and so much more. Special new experiences have been introduced to mark the milestone anniversary of Modesh and his friend Dana, themed around the pair’s adventures throughout the year. Children have more than 170 attractions to explore, including a thrilling new Inflatable Park with nine amazing experiences including an inflatable battle zone, zip line, and obstacle course. Open daily with free entry for all, this year’s edition runs until 18 August from 10am – 10pm on Mondays to Thursdays, and from 10am – 12am on Fridays to Sundays.

As well as greeting families at Modesh World, friends and families can also catch Modesh appearances at malls across the city during the weekend. Youngsters can look out for Modesh and Dana this weekend at Circle Mall and City Centre Me’aisem on 6 July, and Dragon Mart and Barsha Mall on 7 July. Modesh will make additional appearances throughout DSS at Nakheel Malls, Majid Al Futtaim Malls, and Dubai Festival City Malls.

SPECTACULAR SAVINGS

Another brilliant way to cool off and enjoy some chilled family fun is Movie Magic brought to you by DSS across all Roxy Cinemas in Dubai. The two-month festival is packed with premieres, special events, celebrity visits, activations, raffles, live events, art and crafts, little chefs and little artists sessions and more. This weekend and every day throughout the summer, the cinema will bring new and exciting activations for visitors, including chances to win prizes in games, receive unexpected surprises, and enjoy delicious combo offers on movie tickets and Food & Beverage.

In celebration of the launch of ‘Despicable Me 4’ on 4 July, fans can join in ‘Minion Madness’, a themed day celebrating the beloved minions featuring activities like minion costume contests, banana eating competitions, and minion meet-and-greets at Roxy Cinemas in Dubai Hills Mall and City Walk. Families can catch up on all the Despicable Me and minion films in a Minion Movie Marathon while snacking their favourite snacks and treats.

A curated line-up of family-friendly movies will continue to be screened for kids of all ages throughout July and August, including all-new movies, blockbusters from 2023, and old-time classics. SUMMER CAMPS

Children across the city can embark on endless creative adventures with exceptional summer camps at leading attractions. Ski Dubai is back with its enthralling summer camp from 1 July to 30 August, with daily or weekly passes for kids aged 4-12 years to master the slopes, learn about Ski Dubai’s penguin residents in an educational programme, and take a trip to VOX Cinemas and Magic Planet. L’ÉCOLE Middle East School of Jewellery Arts, supported by Van Cleef & Arpels, is hosting an immersive jewellery arts workshops for both kids and adults from 1-13 July, with all proceeds from the programme going towards Dubai Cares. At Expo City Dubai, youngsters aged 5-12 years can take part in fun arts, crafts, energetic movement sessions, and explorer activities from 8 July – 23 August.

 

MALL ACTIVATIONS

At Deira City Centre, friends and families can beat the heat with a host of fun themed activities happening on Saturdays and Sundays at the Food Central from 6-11pm.
