Ludovico Einaudi was born in Turin in 1955 and began his musical journey at the Conservatory of Milan under Azio Corghi, continuing his studies under Luciano Berio and Karlheinz Stockhausen. He accepted a scholarship to Tanglewood Music Festival in 1982, which introduced him to American minimalism and influenced his compositions.
Einaudi has achieved global acclaim with his solo albums, including Le Onde (1986), based on the novel The Waves by British author Virginia Woolf, and I Giorni (2001), a cycle of piano ballads inspired by his travels to Mali. He returned to Africa two years later at the invitation of the Festival au Desert; an album, Diario Mali, with kora master Ballaké Sissoko, blossomed from this experience.
The score Einaudi wrote in 2002 for the remake of Doctor Zhivago triumphed at the New York Film Festival, confirming the increasing prestige of his soundtracks, which include Not of This World (2000), Light of My Eyes (2001), Strange Crime (2004), This is England, film (2004) and TV series (2010), The Untouchables (2011), Samba (2014), The Water Diviner (2015) and The Third Murder (2017).
Performances at venues like the Royal Albert Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and La Scala highlight Einaudi’s artistic prominence. His 2022 album, Underwater, reflects an intimate, fluid approach to music, and his upcoming album, The Summer Portraits (2025), continues his legacy of innovation.
Matteo Bocelli, born in Tuscany in 1997, has quickly established himself as an exciting talent in the classical crossover genre. The youngest son of superstar tenor Andrea Bocelli, Matteo inherited a deep passion for music from his father and began performing at 18. His first major recognition came in 2018 with Fall on Me, a powerful duet with his father that has had more than 400 million streams globally.
Bocelli’s music combines classical roots with modern pop. His debut solo album, Matteo (2023) features a mix of English and Italian tracks, demonstrating his strong and colourful vocal style. Collaborating with global artists such as Ed Sheeran, Bocelli’s songs cover themes of family, resilience, and self-discovery, with tracks such as I’m Here and For You illustrating his introspective and romantic approach to songwriting.
