AlFursan Endurance AlUla returns on 7 and 8 February 2026
Prestigious equestrian event among numerous endurance competitions in AlUla
AlUla’s breathtaking terrain and storied history provides perfect setting for endurance sports
AlUla : In AlUla, endurance is written into the land itself. Towering sandstone cliffs, sweeping plains, ancient valleys, and oasis routes have shaped human movement here for thousands of years.
Long before modern competition, AlUla was a place defined by journeys; of traders, pilgrims, and communities who learned to adapt and thrive within one of the world’s most striking natural environments. Today, that same landscape – further elevated by new discoveries and man-made marvels – has become a global stage for endurance sport.
At the heart of this story stands AlFursan Endurance AlUla, one of the most prestigious equestrian endurance events in the world and a defining moment in AlUla’s sports calendar. Set against the dramatic terrain of north-west Saudi Arabia, the event challenges elite riders and horses across vast distances; testing stamina, skill, and strategy and demanding deep respect for the environment.
Hosted at Mohammed Yousuf Naghi Equestrian Village – AlFursan on 7 and 8 February 2026, AlFursan Endurance AlUla reflects both AlUla’s rich equestrian heritage and the region’s growing role as an international destination for elite endurance competition.
That position will be further reinforced later this year when AlUla hosts the FEI Endurance World Championship 2026 on 28 November, welcoming the world to the pinnacle of long-distance equestrian sport.
Staged across AlUla’s diverse and demanding terrain, the Championship will see elite riders and horses cover distances of up to 160km, testing partnership, strategy, and showcasing respect for equine welfare at the highest level.
Organised by the Royal Commission for AlUla, in partnership with the Saudi Arabian Equestrian Federation, the event builds on AlUla’s growing reputation as a global centre for elite equestrian competition and underlines the role of Mohammed Yousuf Naghi Equestrian Village – AlFursan as a spectacular venue capable of hosting world championship-standard events
While equestrian events are a central pillar, many other sports and disciplines also contribute to AlUla’s endurance identity.
Throughout the year, the region is a living arena for athletes across multiple disciplines, each event revealing a different facet of the extraordinary landscape. The AlUla Tour, totalling 800km over five stages, sees world-class cyclists race through the open roads and tackle mountain climbs that test both speed and resilience. Every stage unfolds against a backdrop where the natural beauty of the region is the headline among a star-studded lineup of riders.
For runners, the AlUla Trail Race offers a deeply immersive encounter with the land. From shorter distances to ultra-marathon routes that welcome participants of all ages and levels, runners traverse sandstone formations, ancient pathways and open desert to experience the region at ground level.
Similarly, AlUla Desert Blaze pushes endurance athletes into one of the most demanding environments imaginable, where heat, terrain, and mental strength become equal adversaries. Meanwhile, the AlUla 24 Hour Endurance Race pushes individuals and teams to their limits to complete as many laps as possible of AlUla’s iconic 8km Camel Track in 24 hours.
Endurance in AlUla is not confined to single disciplines. Events such as the Ashar Valley Triathlon and AlUla Duathlon combine swimming, cycling, and running within landscapes that constantly shift, requiring adaptability as much as physical competence.
Regardless of the event, it is AlUla’s terrain that defines each sport. The landscape shapes race strategies, pacing, recovery and mindset. It rewards preparation and respect as athletes race across the same routes once navigated by civilisations centuries ago. In this way, endurance sport in AlUla feels like a continuation of the region’s story.
This connection between land, heritage and performance is central to AlUla’s wider vision for sport. Endurance events therefore sit naturally alongside cultural festivals, heritage experiences, and community initiatives that all form part of the AlUla Moments calendar – a year-round schedule that celebrates the region’s identity through culture, arts, wellness, sports, and discovery.
As AlFursan Endurance AlUla returns, it does so within a landscape proven across disciplines, distances and demands. From horses to cyclists, runners to triathletes, AlUla continues to attract those drawn to challenges that go beyond sporting competition.
