Car owners and enthusiasts are invited to buckle up and share the experience.

Dubai, UAE –: Al Ghandi Auto, UAE’s leading automotive distributor and the official dealer for General Motors, invites everyone to take the “I Am Convinced” pledge and save lives together. Al Ghandi Auto created a creative public awareness campaign to convince everyone of the importance of wearing a seat belt, which also aligns with the nation’s road safety agenda.

Al Ghandi Auto built the Seat Belt Convincer from scratch: a unique real-life simulator that enables people to experience forces up to five times their body weight, equal to a 5-8 kph car crash. The Seatbelt Convincer was created to educate the general public about the importance of wearing seat belts no matter where they sit in the car. Anyone who accepts the challenge will be astounded by the amount of force generated in such a slow collision.

The first automobile with a three-point seat belt was introduced in 1959, yet there was little excitement around its release at the time. 63 years later, and despite the fact that seat belts have saved millions of lives, many are still not convinced of their importance. Numbers, on the other hand, tell a whole different story. Crash injuries are the top cause of mortality in children and young people aged 5 to 29 worldwide. As for the UAE, Abu Dhabi Police reports that 60% of road fatalities in Abu Dhabi might have been avoided if seat belts were used.

Last year alone, road accidents killed 381 people and injured 2,620 others in the UAE, while for the same period, the road traffic death rate per 100,000 people was 3.09. But according to WHO’s Global Status Report on Road Safety, seat belts may lower the chance of fatality among drivers and front-seat passengers in an accident by 45-50%. Earlier this year, the Dubai Executive Council approved the Dubai Traffic Safety Strategy 2022-2026, which was developed by the Roads and Transport Authority and the Dubai Police Headquarters. The strategy complements the objectives of the National Agenda and the Dubai Plan 2021, with the goal of making Dubai one of the safest cities in the world and achieving the zero road deaths vision.

As road safety and driving remain great topics for employee engagement initiatives, Al Ghandi Auto invites and encourages companies to consider booking the Seat Belt Convincer for future staff events. As set-up and execution expenses will be covered by Al Ghandi Auto, this experience and safety awareness event will be free for the esteemed organizations. Companies may take the pledge along with their employees and show the world that they are convinced of the importance of seat belts. The ingenious Seat Belt Convincer can persuade everyone to adopt safer driving behaviors.

For over 25 years, Al Ghandi Auto has been the official GMC dealer in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, and the Chevrolet dealer since 2008. As of 2019, they are also the exclusive Cadillac dealer for all Emirates in the UAE. Al Ghandi Auto provides a wealth of knowledge and expertise in both vehicle sales and service, ensuring that customers have a positive experience with General Motors Vehicles.
