Jeddah-: Jeddah Central Development Company, a wholly owned company by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and the master developer of the Jeddah Central destination, signed four construction contracts for the destination’s first three landmarks – the Stadium, the Opera House and the Oceanarium– in addition to phase one infrastructure and utilities works, with a total value of 12 billion Saudi Riyals. The contract signing ceremony was held today at the destination’s site.
China Harbour Engineering Arabia Company Limited (CHEC) won the contract for the infrastructure construction. Modern Building Leaders (MBL) were awarded the contracts for the Oceanarium, and the Opera House, while the Sports Stadium and the surrounding villages contract went to The Consortium China Railway Construction Corp. LTD. Saudi Branch and Sama Construction for Contracting.
Engineer Ahmed Al-Sulaim, CEO of Jeddah Central Development, highlighted the significance of this day, marking the start of the construction of the main architectural landmarks and the infrastructure for phase one, in line with the timeline to transform Jeddah Central into a global destination. Aligning with Vision 2030, this step reflects Jeddah Central Development Company’s commitment towards economic advancement, job creation, and enriching the cultural and recreational landscape of Jeddah.
Al-Sulaim added: “The construction contracts were awarded following thorough procedures, high standards of governance, and transparency. All awarded companies demonstrated eligibility through their proven track record of experience in implementing various projects according to international best practices.”
Engineer Mardi Al-Mansour, Chief Projects and Development Officer at Jeddah Central Development Company, stated: “We successfully prepared the construction zones and marine infrastructure, spanning over 7 million safe working hours, all while seamlessly adhering to the international standards of quality and safety, and meeting the environmental and sustainability requirements in accordance with the official entities (National Center for Wildlife, National Center for Environmental Compliance). This was achieved under the supervision of our project management team, consisting of over 150 male and female engineers.“
Established in 2019, Jeddah Central Development Company is the master developer of the “Jeddah Central” destination, spanning 5.7 million square meters. This development aims to be the vibrant heart of the city, contributing to the national economy and enhancing the quality of life in Jeddah and Saudi Arabia at large. Strategically located on the Red Sea coast, from north of Alsalam palace to the end of the desalination plant, close to the cities of Makkah and Madinah that attract visitors and pilgrims year-round.
Jeddah Central is set to welcome its first visitors by the end of 2027, from within and outside the Kingdom. The destination will feature various architectural landmarks, including an Opera House, Stadium, an Oceanarium, and an Industrial Museum, along with numerous attractions like a sandy beach, a pier, a seafront promenade, and a marina.
