These accolades recognise Mandarin Oriental’s commitment to shaping the future of sustainable luxury travel through pioneering eco-conscious initiatives, cultural preservation, and the promotion of responsible travel experiences. The awards, launched at COP28, honour organisations that transcend traditional hospitality by prioritising sustainability and environmental stewardship at every level of their operations.
Mandarin Oriental was particularly commended for its innovative approach to engaging stakeholders along the Group’s sustainability journey from deepening responsible sourcing commitments, driving environmental intensity reduction targets, and contributing to local communities globally through sponsoring one-paid day leave for all colleagues, reinforcing its role as a leader in sustainable practices.

This year’s awards programme featured 21 categories, developed with input from the WSTHA Advisory Board, comprised of academic and industry leaders. Reflecting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and a net positive framework of People, Planet, Place, Prosperity, and Partnerships, the awards celebrate organisations dedicated to driving meaningful impact. Entries were assessed by Sustainable Business students from Nova Business School, with finalists selected by the Advisory Board and winners determined through a global public vote.
