Partnership Aims to Positively Impact Nearly 3,500 Children by August 2024
Youth From the Partnership’s Community Programs Met Torque GC’s Four LATAM Stars During LIV Golf Mayakoba This Week
Playa del Carmen, Mexico – – LIV Golf and Fútbol Más Mexico teamed up this week at LIV Golf Mayakoba to celebrate their ongoing partnership in promoting youth development and wellbeing through sport, with a special meet and greet with the players of Torque GC.
The activities carry on last season’s announcement of a three-year partnership between LIV Golf with Fútbol Más to establish programming that promotes youth development and wellbeing through sports in the surrounding areas of LIV Golf Mayakoba. The collaboration is part of LIV Golf’s, Potential, Unleashed initiative, the league’s commitment to develop and carry out impact efforts in tournament host communities through the league, its teams, players and charitable partners.
Fútbol Más identified two communities in need of support across the Playa del Carmen and Cancun areas: La Guadalupana and Barrio Mayo. In the past year, Fútbol Más has implemented two year-round community programs to create social change through sports: the Neighbourhood Program, promoting the well-being of children and young people through sport, and My Journey Program, enhancing leadership, employability, and digital proficiency in youths aged 14-22 in vulnerable communities. By August 2024, the community programs will positively impact nearly 3,500 lives.
“It’s been an incredible first year of our partnership with LIV Golf,” said Andrea Villanueva, Social Director at Fútbol Más. “We’ve set the foundations for truly impactful plans which have already had a positive effect on hundreds of young people’s lives and will go on to reach thousands more over the next two-plus years.
“Celebrating the year at LIV Golf Mayakoba was a special moment for the children and for us. Seeing the kids meet the Torque guys who are not only some of the best golfers in the world but also from this region will be so inspiring for the kids to continue this beautiful game.”
In celebration of the partnership, during LIV Golf Mayakoba, 120 young people from the program visited El Camaleon Golf Course for activities including a special meet and greet with Torque GC, a nature walk through the spectacular Riviera Maya to learn about the wild-life on-site, and the opportunity to watch the world-class golf – taking inspiration from many of the best players in the world.
“It was really cool to see not only the kids, but also how the foundation works,” said Torque GC player Mito Pereria. “The program aims to get the kids to know themselves better through sport and to do things that are going to help them the rest of their lives.”
