Dubai, UAE –– Kandima Maldives proudly celebrated World Ocean Day with a series of sustainability-focused activities, welcoming their new marine biologist, Michelle Matos. Reflecting their commitment to environmental stewardship and marine conservation, guests, local students, and the Kandima community came together to honour and protect precious ocean ecosystems.
Guests of all ages enthusiastically participated in several activities lined up especially for Ocean Day. The Island Cleaning Activity saw guests take part in a CSR island cleaning initiative to maintain the pristine condition of Kandima’s beaches. At the Kula Art Studio, the guests created Eco–Friendly Artwork featuring marine creatures, using sustainable materials to highlight the connection between art and environmental consciousness.
Additionally, the newly appointed marine biologist, Michelle Matos, provided an educational briefing on the diverse marine life found around the island during a snorkelling trip. With her extensive background in marine biology and dedication to ocean conservation, Michelle also held a workshop sharing captivating stories and insights about the ocean, emphasizing the importance of marine conservation.

Kandima’s efforts extend beyond just a single day, ensuring that the oceans and marine life are protected every day. Since 2017, Kandima has been on a mission to protect the dazzling coral reefs. Their guest initiatives include adopting a coral frame, tracking its growth online, and becoming part of the marine conservation tribe.
