Kamalaya, meaning ‘Lotus Realm’ in the ancient language of Sanskrit and representing the unfolding of the human spirit, was inspired by husband-and-wife founders, John and Karina Stewart. John, a devoted spiritual acolyte, public speaker, inspirational visionary and leader in the global wellness industry and Karina, Doctor of traditional Chinese medicine, an acclaimed speaker, author, innovator and a renowned authority on holistic health and wellbeing. Together, they conceived and developed Kamalaya as a profound expression of their life journeys and passion and pursuit of holistic healing, which opened in 2005 with a vast offering of wellness programs and experiences.

In addition, guests can benefit from holistic fitness classes, a health inspired heartful cuisine, customised wellness programs, group retreats and opportunities to work with international visiting healers and teachers visiting the resort.

Most recently, the retreat further enhanced its expertise in functional medicine for longevity through the addition of healing therapies available at a new  Longevity House. Treatments include IV Therapy that is a results-oriented IV vitamin infusion to support acute health concerns and improve health, performance and longevity, Ozone Therapy, an effective treatment to restore balance, combat infectious and degenerative diseases and boost the immune system and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, for guests recovering from injuries and those seeking to boost their immunity, vitality and energy levels in a high air pressure Hyperbaric Chamber. These regenerative treatments are performed in the new bespoke wellness facility at the renowned wellness escape.

All guests staying at Kamalaya undergo a body bioimpedance analysis, followed by a personal one-to-one consultation with a wellness expert to review their results. The Wellness Sanctuary’s expert team consists of more than 50 certified naturopaths, doctors of Chinese medicine, western medical doctors, registered nurses, nutritionists, life transformation experts, Ayurvedic and Thai therapists, fitness specialists and yoga, meditation and pranayama teachers.
