Jeddah :  The Consulate General of India in Jeddah successfully hosted “India: Wellness & Flavours” on 12 July 2026 at the Park Hyatt Hotel. The prestigious event served as a vibrant celebration of India’s ancient wellness philosophy through Yoga and the agricultural richness of its renowned mango harvest.

The gathering attracted a high-profile guest list, including senior dignitaries from Saudi Arabia’s Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Media, and Environment, Water and Agriculture. Also in attendance were members of the diplomatic corps, leading business figures, steadfast friends of India, and representatives of the Indian diaspora in the Kingdom.

In his keynote address, India’s Consul General, H.E. Mr. Fahad Ahmed Khan Suri, emphasized the universal importance of preventive healthcare and holistic well-being across all demographics. He noted that the event not only showcased India’s culinary diversity and agricultural prowess but also served as a bridge to strengthen bilateral ties. “This celebration highlights the immense potential for deepening India-Saudi Arabia cooperation in cultural exchange and agri-trade,” Mr. Suri stated.

Celebrating India’s Wellness Heritage and Culinary Diversity

The “India: Wellness & Flavours” event highlighted two important aspects of India’s cultural identity: its longstanding wellness traditions and its rich agricultural heritage. By bringing these themes together in Jeddah, the Consulate General of India created an opportunity to introduce guests to India’s diverse traditions while encouraging stronger cultural and commercial connections between India and Saudi Arabia.

Yoga was an important part of the event’s wellness focus. Recognised internationally for its emphasis on physical activity, breathing techniques and mindfulness, yoga has become a widely practised approach to supporting overall well-being. India’s traditional knowledge systems continue to attract interest across international communities, creating opportunities for cultural exchange and greater awareness of holistic wellness practices. Visitors can learn more about yoga’s origins and practice through the official Ministry of AYUSH website.

Showcasing India’s Famous Mango Varieties

The Indian Mango Trail offered guests an opportunity to discover the diversity of India’s mango harvest. Varieties such as Chausa, Dussehri and Langda are valued for their distinctive flavours, aromas and textures, reflecting the country’s varied growing regions and agricultural traditions.

Mangoes are an important seasonal fruit in India and feature prominently in traditional desserts, beverages and regional cuisines. By presenting these varieties alongside mango lassi, falooda, pastries, salads and mango kunafa, the event demonstrated how a familiar ingredient can inspire both traditional recipes and contemporary culinary creations.

The showcase also highlighted the potential for Indian agricultural products to reach international consumers through food exhibitions, hospitality partnerships and trade relationships. More information about India’s agricultural exports and related initiatives is available through the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).

Strengthening India-Saudi Arabia Cultural and Trade Relations

Events that combine food, wellness and cultural experiences can create valuable opportunities for diplomatic engagement. By bringing together government representatives, business leaders, diplomats and members of the Indian community, the gathering provided a platform for discussions around shared interests in tourism, agriculture and cultural cooperation.

India and Saudi Arabia have opportunities to deepen commercial engagement through agricultural trade, food processing, hospitality and other consumer-focused industries. Culinary showcases can help introduce Indian products to new audiences while encouraging businesses to explore potential partnerships.

The event also reinforced the role of the Indian diaspora in strengthening people-to-people connections between the two countries. Through cultural celebrations and community engagement, the Consulate General of India in Jeddah continues to provide opportunities to share India’s traditions with audiences across Saudi Arabia.

By combining wellness awareness with a celebration of Indian mangoes, “India: Wellness & Flavours” demonstrated how food and cultural heritage can bring communities together while supporting broader diplomatic and commercial relationships.
