In celebration of the holy month of Ramadan, the Consulate General of India in Jeddah hosted a warm and welcoming Iftar reception on 13 March 2025 at the Consulate premises. The event brought together a distinguished group of guests, including representatives from the Saudi government, the diplomatic community, the Indian diaspora, and leaders from various sectors, such as business, media, and culture.
The evening began with opening remarks by His Excellency Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, who shared heartfelt reflections on the significance of Ramadan. He spoke about the values of reflection, compassion, and service that this sacred month inspires. The Ambassador also emphasized the deep connection between India and Saudi Arabia, and highlighted the growing partnership between the two countries, particularly in areas like trade, cultural exchange, and sustainable development.
Following the Ambassador’s remarks, Consul General Mr. Fahad Ahmed Khan Suri took the opportunity to speak about the theme of the evening—Organic Iftar. He highlighted the Consulate’s commitment to sustainability and the growing importance of organic farming, both in India and globally. The Consul General shared how this evening’s menu, featuring organic ingredients, reflected not only a commitment to health and wellness but also to protecting the environment for future generations.
The Consul General also expressed his deep gratitude to the many partners who made the event possible. He extended special thanks to the Agricultural and Processed Foods Products Exports Development Authority (APEDA), Government of India, for their invaluable contribution in supplying organic ingredients from India. His appreciation also went to the local partners, including the Lulu Group and Siafa Dates, whose collaboration ensured the smooth execution of the event, and who helped make this Iftar a truly memorable occasion for all in attendance.
The reception featured a delectable array of organic delicacies, which beautifully showcased the rich flavours of India while underscoring the importance of sustainability in the food we enjoy. The evening concluded with an atmosphere of warmth and unity, as guests came together to enjoy the shared spirit of Ramadan.
