“On the occasion of World Food Day, we strengthen our commitment to our leadership’s wise vision to make the UAE the world’s leading nation in food security. This year’s theme ‘Right to foods for a better life and a better future’ resonates deeply with our nation’s vision and aligns with the legacy of COP28 and the UAE Declaration on Resilient Food Systems, Sustainable Agriculture, and Climate Action. It amplifies the case for transforming food systems, making them equitable and accessible for all.

“To transform food systems, we need collaborative and bold action. Initiatives like ‘AIM for Climate’, our partnership with the United States, demonstrate our proactive approach to revolutionising agriculture. We are also pioneering sustainable aquaculture and fisheries, maximising our resources responsibly and setting a global example.

“By encouraging our farmers and fishermen to adopt advanced technologies to boost productivity, we have not only enhanced our local food production but have done so in a climate friendly way.

“While we will continue to empower our food producers, the farmers, and the fishermen, we also urge communities to be more conscientious food consumers. We must take a whole-of-society approach in meeting our national goals and ensure that our nation remains steadfast in meeting our global pledges. The newly launched ‘Plant the Emirates’ National Programme and the ‘National Agricultural Centre’ underscore the importance of collective efforts in bolstering agriculture as a pillar of our nation’s development. By bringing together public and private sectors, businesses and communities, this initiative will drive innovation, research and development in addressing our biggest agricultural challenges.

“Let this World Food Day be a reminder to all of us that we can make a difference. By reducing food waste, buying fresh local produce, and supporting our agricultural communities, we can contribute to a food-secure future for all. Together, let us lead the change and create a sustainable future for generations to come.”
