The second chapter of the French concept is now welcoming guests at Pullman Downtown Dubai
Award-winning premium-casual French restaurant, Couqley, has officially kicked off a new chapter with the launch of its second location in Dubai; the Couqley French Brasserie. The long-anticipated opening stems from a strategic collaboration between Couqley and Pullman Hotel Downtown to follow the success of the concept’s quintessential JLT hotspot. With doors to the new location now open, guests are invited to experience Couqley’s signature charm, now adapted to cater to the dynamic energy of the downtown dining scene.
Offering the same soulful culinary experience, fairly-priced wine, and warm personalized service as the venue in JLT, the Couqley in Downtown has been redesigned specifically to fit the glorious setting. The new spot, which spans over an area of 6,250 sqft, has been designed to encapsulate the sultry spirit of a buzzing brasserie with a nod to the first location’s classic Parisian charm. With a large golden rooster sculpture flying high above a signature central bar, French garden-inspired booth seating, dining tables under olive trees, lights hanging down from triple-height ceilings, and an exterior terrace directly on – and accessible from – the promenade of the Dubai Canal, the heart and soul of the brasserie remains unchanged. Couqley French Brasserie’s layout has been segmented into an indoor space of 4,100 sqft and an outdoor terrace spanning 2,150 sqft; with a total capacity to host over 255 guests at any given time.
The Golden Rooster (Le Coq D’Or en Français)
The thoughtfully curated, upbeat Parisian setting at Couqley French Brasserie houses a colossal custom-made art sculpture flying more than 4 meters in the air, directly above the venue’s elevated central bar. The installation of a larger-than-life Golden Rooster above the bar takes inspiration from the brand’s name Couqley, derived from the French word ‘couquelet’ meaning ‘baby chicken’. In addition to instantly setting the tone for an exciting experience from the moment guests enter the restaurant, the installation celebrates the brand’s growth, success, and evolution over the years and marks its bold arrival into a new chapter. The baby chicken has grown up to become a big Golden Rooster – embracing all those in its vicinity with good luck and prosperity.
Brasserie Design
Designed by the color-loving Dubai-based Portuguese artist Ana D’Castro, Couqley’s newest location welcomes abundant sunlight through its triple-height ceiling and its 9-meter high window wall that stretches across the venue. The brand’s first-ever outdoor experience features panoramic views of the Dubai Canal, alongside a full-scale view of the Dubai skyline. The restaurant is accessible from both the promenade and the lobby of the hotel reception. For the indoor space, the artist has integrated a new dimension into the brand’s long-standing aesthetics using elements like soaring high walls in rich teal, a wooden parquet floor, a centrally located marble-top island bar and a semi-open kitchen creating a direct view of the chefs at work.
Staunch in its commitment to curating a setting of casual vibrancy, Couqley French Brasserie will continue to offer its predecessor’s signature value-led dining experience made electric with a combination of upbeat jazz, lounge and French music. In addition to the best-selling menu at the JLT location, Couqley French Brasserie will also be serving the same weekly dining deals allowing diners to indulge in Couqley’s Business Lunch, Steak Frites Mondays and Ladies Night. The menu offers all of Couqley’s loved dishes served up with the same smiles in a new, gorgeous downtown location.
