Third AlUla Trail Race sees a record number of runners across six-event weekend

The 2025 AlUla Trail Race concluded on Friday following two spectacular days of endurance running, which drew record participants from around the world to the breathtaking landscapes of AlUla.
With over 1400 runners hitting the trails across the six unique race categories, the 2025 event saw the biggest turnout ever in the race’s three-year history, highlighting AlUla’s growing presence as a premier destination for sports, heritage, and adventure.
Set against AlUla’s remarkable landmarks, including the world-famous UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hegra, the dramatic rock formations of Elephant Rock, and the architectural marvel of Maraya, the AlUla Trail Race offered an unforgettable experience for athletes of all ages and levels.
Thursday hosted the 1.6km Kids Run and the scenic 3km Sunset Run, two family-friendly runs that harnessed the sense of community and set the tone for Friday’s longer distances: the AlUla Oasis 10km, the Elephant Rock 23km, AlMejdar 50km, and the ultimate Hegra Hundred 100km.
The prestigious Hegra Hundred Ultra-Marathon, the crown jewel of the AlUla Trail Race, saw exceptional performances of physical and mental endurance as runners conquered the terrain of AlUla. Top finishers in the 100km Hegra Hundred Ultra-Marathon also walked away with twenty thousand SAR respectively for their efforts.
The 2025 AlUla Trail Race was a celebration of the running community and of AlUla’s extraordinary nature and heritage. Families, recreational runners, and professional athletes all gathered to experience AlUla’s unique attractions, from the vibrant Race Village featuring gourmet food trucks and live entertainment to recovery zones and physiotherapy services for participants.
The AlUla Trail Race is part of the AlUla Moments calendar 2024/25, a year-round schedule of events created to showcase the culture, heritage, and hospitality of AlUla. Other sports events on the AlUla Moments calendar include the AlUla Tour professional cycling race, Richard Mille AlUla Desert Polo, and AlFursan Equestrian AlUla.
