Ajman, United Arab Emirates– Today marked a significant milestone in the realms of education, culture, and tourism as The Ajman Department of Tourism Development (ADTD) and Skyline University College (SUC) in Sharjah signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). This strategic alliance aims to fortify collaboration and synergy to boost tourism and economic growth within the Emirate of Ajman. The MoU outlines plans for joint academic and training programs, specialized research initiatives, and knowledge exchange to invigorate the tourism sector.

The signing ceremony, attended by His Excellency Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi, Director General of the Ajman Department of Tourism Development, and Prof. Mohammad In’airat, Vice-Chancellor of Skyline University College in Sharjah, signalled a new era of partnership. Both parties expressed confidence that this MoU would lay a solid foundation for achieving shared objectives and fostering enduring cooperation.

Key areas of collaboration outlined in the MoU cover the development of tailored academic programs, the undertaking of impactful tourism research endeavors, facilitating practical training opportunities for students, and arranging joint tourism-centric events like conferences and exhibitions. Additionally, the agreement underscores joint efforts in tourism marketing leveraging innovative strategies, offering specialized consultations in destination management and eco-tourism, adopting technological solutions to enrich visitor experiences, and providing training in the latest technologies for tourism sector professionals.

Commenting on this agreement, His Excellency Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi remarked, “The signing of this MoU represents a pivotal stride towards advancing tourism prospects in Ajman. Our collaboration with Skyline University College underscores our commitment to nurturing human capital and enhancing competencies in alignment with the emirate’s vision.” He added, “By enhancing our tourism and cultural prowess, as well as bolstering our capacity to attract tourists and drive sustainable development, we anticipate realizing shared goals and leveraging mutual experiences to propel tourism growth in the emirate.”

Prof. Mohammad In’airat expressed delight at the MoU signing, highlighting its potential to enrich human resources and elevate the emirate’s figure as a premier educational and tourism hub. He emphasized, “This collaboration aims to elevate the academic and cultural dimensions for our students while leveraging the vast expertise of the Ajman Department of Tourism Development. It presents numerous opportunities for knowledge exchange and skills development that serve the interests of both entities and elevate our academic standing.”

The implementation framework of the MoU includes joint scientific and cultural programs, along with the launch of innovative initiatives aimed at enhancing professional and educational standards in hospitality, hotel management, and cultural tourism. Educational and training initiatives by Skyline University College will augment tourism sector skills, encompassing foreign language proficiency, modern hotel management techniques, tourism marketing strategies, and occupational safety and health protocols.

This MoU underscores the ADTC’s steadfast dedication to advancing the tourism sector and positioning it as a regional tourism hub. It underscores the pivotal role of education and training in achieving these objectives and is poised to attract more tourists while creating employment opportunities for youth interested in the vibrant tourism landscape of Ajman, solidifying its status as a distinguished tourist destination.
