The first public network of electric bicycles and scooters in Saudi Arabia was launched in Madinah at the end of 2023.

Madinah, Saudi Arabia – – – Residents and visitors of Madinah, Saudi Arabia, have completed 150,000 trips on Careem Bikes since the network was launched in the city at the end of 2023. Launched in partnership with ALMQR Development Company and Amana, the Municipality of Madinah, it is the first public network of electric bicycles and scooters in Saudi Arabia and has proved to be incredibly popular.
Nearly 14,174 customers have collectively travelled almost 597,000 kilometers across the city. Cycling substitutes for motorized travel and thereby reduces energy use and carbon dioxide (Co2) emissions. Since launching in Madinah, Careem Bike rides have displaced 91 tons of Co2 emissions.

The Madinah Municipality has invested in 70km of bike path to connect key transport links, districts and tourist sites across the city including Al Mughaisilah, Al Qaswa Garden, Al-Hijra walkway, As Salam Rd, Al-Haram area, Hejaz Railway Museum, Iskan, King Fahd Park, King Fahd Road walk, Qiba Road, Sultana Road and Al-Tilal.
