Premier League title rivals Manchester City and Arsenal will finally face off this year when the FA Cup rolls at the Etihad Stadium on Friday. Man City can draw comfort from the fact that they have won 13 of their 16 meetings with Arsenal in all competitions under the Spanish Manager Pep Guardiola. In terms of Premier League play, the visiting Gunners lead City by five points with a game remaining, and Arsenal has performed admirably in the FA Cup.
The Gunners have won their last four FA Cup games against Man City. They have reached the final every time they have eliminated the Citizens, winning the trophy on the last three occasions (1971, 2017, 2020). Spanish professional football manager of Arsenal and former player Mikel Arteta, can take solace from the fact that one of Arsenal’s only two wins against Pep Guardiola, his former mentor, came under him en route to their FA Cup triumph in 2020.
The Bundesliga’s top team Bayern Munich face a test at their home stadium the Allianz Arena, where they have gone unbeaten for more than a year. The defending champions host Eintracht Frankfurt, who they’ve beaten 35 times in the previous 54 matches, while the visitors have triumphed 10 times.
Bayern Munich won the last meeting between the sides back in August by a resounding 6-1 scoreline, but since the mid-season break they have failed to win any of their three Bundesliga fixtures so far. Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt’s four-match winning streak ended in mid-week as they failed to make up ground in the title race. Eintracht Frankfurt was ranked seventh in the table with 24 points a year ago. Now with 31 points, they rank fourth.
