Along the street’s 1.4-kilometre length, shopping lovers will find chic boutiques and glittering shops offering the finest products. From stylish fashion to the finest in Swiss watches, the breadth of high-quality products available on the Bahnhofstrasse ranges from Cartier to Tommy Hilfiger. Shoppers can find everything they desire on this famous street, with stores offering household goods, toys, clothing, books, and hygiene products.

The shopper’s paradise is just 15 minutes drive from the Dolder Grand and can be reached using the hotel’s transfer service, so guests can wander and appreciate the walk along this historic street through the heart of Zurich. In addition to shops, contemporary cafes and eateries are sprinkled along the boulevard and the best Swiss delicacies such as chocolates and beverages. While trams go through the street, it is a nearly traffic-free pedestrian haven.

Kunsthaus Zürich

In addition, it features key works from the late-20th and 21st centuries, such as Warhol, Rothko, and Beuys. The Dodler Grand keeps a remarkable art collection of over 120 pieces itself which can be discovered during while staying. And the design of 230 square metres large Carezza Suite was inspired by the works of Alberto Giacometti.

Zoo Zurich

As one of the best zoos in Europe, Zoo Zurich opened in 1929 and is home to more than 380 animal species; the over 90-year-old Zoo lies in an idyllic location on the Zürichberg and only five minutes away from the Dolder Grand. Guests staying at the Dolder Grand get free tickets to enjoy watching the almost 4,000 animals, especially Nigrita, a Galapagos giant turtle and the oldest resident at the Zoo; at over 70 years old she has been living at the Zoo since 1946.

The History of Chocolate

The Lindt Home of Chocolate is the perfect destination for families and fine chocolate lovers. A series of interactive displays and life-like illustrated models showcase the chocolatier’s journey. Guests of the Dolder Grand can visit this spectacular museum and understand chocolate making process, starting from the cultivation of the cocoa pod to its metamorphosis into exquisite, fine chocolate. After absorbing all these stimulating facts about chocolate, visitors complete the tour in the tasting room, where numerous masterpieces are waiting to be sampled and devoured.

Adlisberg Mountain Trails

Adlisberg Forest, connected to the Dolder Grand, has many scenic mountain trails that go through ravines and past private mountain villas with the most beautiful views in all of Zurich. Guests can enjoy the fantastic vistas and nature through the Loorenkopf trail, which passes through the Jörentobel ravine and green woods to the eastern end of the Adlisberg. Here walkers will find the observation tower where they can enjoy 360° views of the Glattal valley, the Zurich Oberland, and the Alps.

Intrepid explorers can opt for the Adlisberg Mountain Bike Trail, starting with a gentle descent and ending with a challenging track. The mountain bike trail on the Adlisberg initially leads over a gently sloping section down towards the Dolder Grand hotel; further down, the way becomes increasingly steep and technically more demanding. The trail ends above the Elefantenbach stream by Stöckentobelweg.

Lake Cruises

Anyone visiting Zurich should take a boat trip. Passengers can see the snow-capped Alps on the horizon while heading to Ufenau island – a nature reserve on Lake Zurich that has been in possession of Einsiedeln Abbey since the year 965. A visit to idyllic Ufenau is a beautiful experience, thanks to its medieval churches and the welcoming restaurant, Haus zu den zwei Raben.

Adventurers can also pay a visit to Lützelau, an island mentioned in documents from the 8th century, where it was sold to St. Gallen Monastery. The name is derived from the Old High German term for “small island”. Today, Lützelau Island is a nature reserve, including its shoreline area and spans 300 meters long, 150 meters wide and provides space for a campground, three spots for making a fire and a small restaurant, which serves barbecue specialities, which are all cared for by the island custodians.

The hotel`s concierge or your personal butler, when staying at a suite, can organise tickets, transfers, bookings and suggestions for an activity or event happening in the city, with guests able to choose from BMW cars, a free bus transfer and e-bikes available for all Dolder Grand guests.
