Salon du Chocolat et de la Pâtisserie launched its second edition at Le Gourmet, Galeries Lafayette —Dubai Mall, on Thursday 18 May.

The opening ceremony was held in the presence of Deputy Consul General of France to the United Arab Emirates, Marie-Laure Charrier, in addition to Laure Videau, licensing director of Salon du Chocolat, world-class chefs, industry professionals and press representatives.

Joumana Dammous-Salamé, managing director of HSME, the event organizer, welcomed guests and spoke about the significance of bringing such an exciting event to Dubai for the second consecutive year.

Dedicated to those who share a passion for chocolate and pastry, the much-loved show gathers together professional chocolate tasters, chocolatiers, chocolate aficionados, authors and pastry chefs for a rich program of chocolate-inspired events. From May 18 to May 20, more than 5,000 visitors are expected to attend the show, where they will have the opportunity to meet more than 60 exhibitors and sample and buy chocolate from the best brands around the world.

The second edition of Salon du Chocolat et de la Pâtisserie will feature the renowned Chocolate Fashion Show. Thirteen fashion designers from ESMOD Dubai have teamed up with celebrity pastry chefs to create dresses under the theme “La Femme et la Mode,” and the gowns will be revealed at the show. Maha El Khoury, projects and sales director at HSME, said that besides the fashion show, the event program includes the Pastry Show and Choco Démo. Around 40 pastry chefs from the top hotels in Dubai are sharing their tips and recipes with visitors over the course of three days and 50 chefs are competing live for the chance to win a trip to Salon du Chocolat Paris. The competition categories include Best Pastry Showpiece, Best Chocolate Showpiece, Best 3D Cake Design and the Elle & Vire Cheesecake Competition.

The event is suitable for all ages, and a special Salon du Chocolat Junior section has been designed for for children to get creative with chocolate.

Established in Paris in 1994, Salon du Chocolat has become a reference for chocolate enthusiasts, with events taking place in 15 cities around the world, including Beirut, Jeddah and Dubai.
