Didier Depond and Tiano Nareno, February 7 to 10
Didier Depond, expert connoisseur and President of Delamotte and Salon Champagne will be returning to Velaa Private Island this February to host two exclusive Winemaker Dinners in Aragu Restaurant.
Having joined the Laurent-Perrier group over 24 years ago, Didier Depond’s passion for champagne has driven Delamotte & Salon Champagne to success. Depond will be hosting two intimate Winemaker Dinners on 7 and 10 February, imparting his experience in making the exclusively produced drink and how to best pair it with foods.
A menu of fine dishes will be served to complement the tasting, along with Tiano & Nareno wine from Mendoza, Argentina, a region renowned for its full-bodied Malbecs.
Asahi Shuzo Sake Dinner in Tavaru, February 20
For one night only, CEO of Asahi Shuzo, Kazuhiro Sakurai will visit Velaa all the way from Japan to introduce an extraordinary Sake tasting menu. Bringing his expertise in sake pairing, Sakurai will take guests on a journey to discover seven award-winning sakes from the legendary Asahi Shuzo Sake Brewery from Shuto-machi Iwakuni-city, Japan.
Kazuhiro Sakurai is the fourth generation of the Sakurai family to head the brewery. Since joining the company, he has been taking sake worldwide by opening a brewery in New York and launching a Dassai tasting space with famous chef, Joel Robuchon in Paris.
The evening will be held at none other than Tavaru, a serene space specifically designed for Teppanyaki cuisine and Japanese culture, all with amazing views over the azure waters of the Indian Ocean.
