Baa Atoll, Maldives – Holidaying in one of Anantara Kihavah’s Over Water Pool Villas is truly a quintessential Maldivian dream. Perched over a crystal-clear lagoon with breath-taking views of the Indian Ocean and easy access to the best house reef in the Maldives, the villas have earned a reputation as being among the most luxurious and spacious in the Maldives.

The resort is now announcing the completion of a multi-million-dollar refurbishment, taking guests stays in the Over Water Pool Villas to an entirely new level of secluded luxury, complementing them with more space, more style and more comfort.

Atelier Pod, the award-winning international architecture and interior design studio, was chosen to lead the transformation project. Following a design concept that aims to infuse a wooden cabin aesthetic using local materials, the concept revolves around creating a pure, simple, and adventurous ambiance with futuristic shapes and clean lines.

Inside, the design and style of the living space have been given a fresh yet refined ambiance with the addition of accent pieces from the local Thuladoo island, smart technology, and extra home comforts. Distinguished by their traditional style and unique design, all new furniture, fittings and materials have been carefully selected to reflect the aesthetic and sustainable qualities of the indigenous culture.

With a focus on comfort and convenience, the 267sqm hideaways still feature king size beds and a walk-in dressing room, but the overall interiors have been given an airier vibe with the use of lighter coloured wood. Floor to ceiling sliding glass doors also let the outside in, allowing guests to awaken each day to the blissful experience of ocean views stretching off to the horizon. When it comes to breathtaking views, it’s hard to beat the mesmerising experience of watching fish swim beneath you as you bathe in a glass-bottomed soaking bathtub.

While the spacious interiors of Anantara’s newly redesigned Over Water Pool Villas provide idyllic havens of luxury and style, the new look sundecks are where the Maldives experience will take your breath away. The extended deck features a new circular seating arrangement which creates a strong focal area that is perfect for lounging and dining as the morning melts into another dreamy afternoon. The design inspiration draws from the components featured at the rear of yachts, translated here into several seating areas that gradually approach the surface of the water. The deck’s hammocks have been extended to create more comfort and even more uniquely Maldivian photo opportunities. These features aim to enhance the connection with the water and introduce exciting new lagoon experiences for guests to enjoy.

“We want to continue delivering the timeless luxury for which Anantara Kihavah is known for,” Sjefke Jansen, General Manager of Anantara Kihavah, affirms. “Our iconic Over Water Pool Villas have been refreshed to elevate the overall guest experience, transforming them into elegant spaces of sophistication, while remaining faithful to the Maldivian heritage and the beauty of the natural surroundings. We are also thrilled to introduce a brand-new category tailored for families – the One Bedroom Family Over Water Pool Villa. These selected units will offer dedicated sleeping quarters for children, ensuring a comfortable stay for small families.”

Life’s worries feel a million miles away as you chat over a gourmet dinner from the open dining area or unwind on the outdoor swinging daybed with a good book. Outdoor rain showers further blur the line between inside and outside, while the newly refreshed 7-metre infinity pools imitate the colours of the ocean to create a surreal swimming experience. For guests who prefer to take a dip in the lagoon, the aquatic wonders of the resort can be accessed directly from the sundeck via a few wooden steps.

A personal Villa Host further enhances the experience of pampered seclusion, making the refreshed Over Water Pool Villas at Anantara Kihavah the perfect haven for love-struck couples, whether on a romantic break, honeymoon, or anniversary vacation, as well as for small families on holiday.
